What is the difference between all of the hx2000 Models?
Quick Answer is Processor Speed and Installed Memory combination.
First off, the hx2110 and hx2190b Models are 312 MHz and do not have WIFI
- they are of limited use for business so we won't discuss them here.
As for the hx2400 Series and the hx2700 Series, they are the same in WIFI, Bluetooth and SD and CF slots.
Some have various OS (ppc2003 or WM5), but either OS can be installed on any model.
The main difference besides speed, is their installed memory.
The hx2700 series also has a biometric fingerprint reader for security that the hx2400 series doesn't have.
All of the hx2400 models are 520MHZ:
- hx2410 - FA298A#ABA - 64/64
- hx2490 - FA675A#ABA - 64/192
- hx2490b - FA675B#ABA - 64/192 - (note: the same memory as the hx2490 above, they are the same machine)
- hx2490c - FB101AA#ABA - 64/512 - lots of memory for applications.
(each has an hx24x5 counterparts: hx2415, hx2495, hx2495b, hx2495c)
All of the hx2700 models are 624MHz:
- hx2750 - FA301A#ABA - 128/128 Mb
- hx2790 - FA677A#ABA - 64/192 Mb - this should be an "a" model, but hp left the "a" off the end
- hx2790b - FA677B#ABA - 64/320 - a nice memory size
- hx2790c - FB103AA#ABA - 64/512 - very nice memory size
(they have corresponding counterparts just with a 5 on the end: hx2755, hx2795, hx2795b, There is no hx2795c)
Note:
- The 2790 (no a in name) is 64/192 Mb and has a relatively low popularity
- The hx2790b (and hx2795b) with 64/320MB are in great demand but are generally available at current market prices.
- The hx2790c models with 64/512 Mb are rare and in great demand and get a correspondingly premium price.
Which should you get?
- the hx2490b and the hx2790 b are great machines. If speed is not a factor, just pick based on budget
- the hx2490c and hx2790c are the memory giants, spend what you can afford
